Gold Fields publishes 2022 Report to Stakeholders

Wednesday, 3 May 2023

Johannesburg, 3 May 2023: Gold Fields Limited (Gold Fields) (JSE, NYSE: GFI) is pleased to announce the release of its 2022 Report to Stakeholders (RtS). The RtS is the final in the suite of reports under the Integrated Annual Report that provides the company’s stakeholders with an overview of Gold Fields’ performance and strategy implementation during 2022.

The RtS outlines our relationship with our key stakeholder groups, the contributions we make and the impact our operations have on them. They address the increased information expectations of our stakeholders, including our shareholders, and reflects the company's commitment to transparent disclosure of its ESG performance, opportunities and risks.

The second pillar of Gold Fields strategy is building on our leading commitment to environmental, social and governance (ESG). It requires the company to strengthen relationships with its stakeholders, engaging them in a proactive and transparent manner and creating enduring value beyond mining.

“I firmly believe that a mining company can only be successful in the long term if it attracts and retains the best people to operate the business, has resilient and trusting relationships with stakeholders and is underpinned by a good resource endowment that allows benefits to accrue to all stakeholders and shareholders,” says Martin Preece, Interim CEO of Gold Fields.

Gold Fields’ ESG journey is also guided by its 2030 targets for its six sustainability priorities – Safety, health, wellbeing and environment; diversity; stakeholder value creation; decarbonisation; tailings management and water stewardship. Three of these targets are focused on our people and stakeholders, while the latter three deal with the potential environmental impacts of our mines and projects.

“This Report to Stakeholders provides insight into the positive work we are doing with and for our stakeholders, but also offers a view of the challenges and risks we continue to face and seek to address in our relationships with them,” Preece adds.
