Accident at Agnew Gold Mine

The incident occurred underground when some concrete reinforcing mesh toppled onto operators who were in the process of moving the mesh.

As a result of the incident two Gold Fields employees and one Contractor have been injured and on an initial assessment of their injuries are now being flown to Perth by the RFDS for further treatment. At this stage the extent of their injuries are still being determined though they are not considered to be life threatening.

Gold Fields has advised the regulatory authorities and an investigation is underway to determine the cause of the incident.
