Netherlands Group

The Netherlands Group of companies serves a vital role in Gold Fields' corporate development and exploration strategy by providing financing and strategic support to various ventures undertaken. The Netherlands Group also acts as a holding company for many of the exploration ventures in the Gold Fields Group.

Michael John Fraser (61)
Managing Director

Mr. Fraser is a Managing Director of the Netherlands Group of Companies, he was appointed on 1 January 2024.

Mr. Fraser joined Gold Fields as CEO and executive director on 1 January 2024. Following an early career in industrial services he joined the mining sector in 2001 in BHP's human resources department. He rose through the ranks at BHP to head the Mozal Aluminium Smelter project in Mozambique in 2009 and thereafter was appointed the group's President Human Resources, based in Melbourne. When BHP created South32 in 2015, Mr. Fraser became President and Chief Operating Officer of its global aluminium, nickel and South African manganese and energy coal businesses. In 2022, he was appointed CEO of Chaarat Gold, an AIM-listed junior gold miner based in London, a position he held until his appointment to Gold Fields.

Alexander Thomas Dall (38)
Managing Director

Mr. Dall is a Managing Director of the Netherlands Group of Companies, he was appointed on 31 March 2025.

Mr. Dall became Gold Fields full-time CFO and Executive Director on 1 March 2025, after having acted as Interim CFO since April 2024. He joined Gold Fields in 2014, focusing on SOX and technical accounting work in the Finance Department. After gaining wider experience, he was promoted to VP Corporate Finance in 2022, responsible for the funding requirements of the Group. Prior to Gold Fields, Mr. Dall worked at KPMG, where he completed his articles in the energy and natural resources department.

Timon Reijn (64)
Managing Director

Mr. Reijn is a Managing Director of the Netherlands Group of Companies, he was appointed in late 2014.

Mr. Reijn is responsible for handling local affairs and representing the Netherlands Group of companies in dealings with third parties. Mr. Reijn has more than 29 years of experience in international taxation matters and corporate structuring.

Johannes Daniel Pool (53)
Managing Director

Mr. Pool is a Managing Director of the Netherlands Group of Companies, he was appointed on 31 March 2025.

Mr. Pool is an experienced M&A professional with more than 25 years' experience in cross-border mining and exploration transactions and corporate strategy. He is currently the Vice President Corporate Development of Gold Fields. Mr. Pool has been involved in several key projects for Gold Fields, including the Cerro Corona acquisition in Peru, the Salares Norte acquisition and property consolidation in Chile, the funding strategy for Salares Norte construction and the acquisition of Osisko Mining in Canada. He Has also led strategic investments and exploration transactions across Canada, West and East Africa and South America. In 2016, he was instrumental in monetising Gold Fields' global royalty portfolio to Maverix Metals. Before joining Gold Fields, he worked at a major Johannesburg corporate law firm and a big four accounting firm. Mr. Pool holds a GNP from Harvard Business School, a Masters in Tax Law from the University of Johannesburg, and a Bachelor of Laws and Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Stellenbosch.

Arne J. Visser (72)
Non-executive Director

Mr. Visser is a non-executive Director of the Netherlands Group of Companies, he was appointed on 1 December 2016.

Mr. Visser has over 45 years' experience in the mining and energy sectors, in the field as well as on management level. Technology, safety and the care for the environment have ever since been key elements in his day‑to‑day business.

Lars van Marrelo (52)
Non-executive Director

Mr. van Marrelo is a non-executive Director of the Netherlands Group of Companies, he was appointed on 1 January 2026.

Mr. van Marrelo graduated from Utrecht University and has over 25 years of experience in the financial, tax and legal service industry. He serves as non-executive Director for a number of Dutch financing companies and also holds statutory directorships for Dutch real estate investment entities. He is the co-owner of a boutique wealth management services company that he started with his business partner in 2021.
