Netherlands Group

The Netherlands Group of companies serves a vital role in Gold Fields’ corporate development and exploration strategy by providing financing and strategic support to various ventures undertaken. The Netherlands Group also acts as a holding company for many of the exploration ventures in the Gold Fields Group.

MIKE FRASER (58)
Chief Executive Officer (CEO)

Mr. Fraser joined Gold Fields as CEO and executive director on 1 January 2024. Following an early career in industrial services he joined the mining sector in 2001 in BHP’s human resources department. He rose through the ranks at BHP to head the Mozal Aluminium Smelter project in Mozambique in 2009 and thereafter was appointed the group’s President Human Resources, based in Melbourne. When BHP created South32 in 2015, Mr. Fraser became President and Chief Operating Officer of its global aluminium, nickel and South African manganese and energy coal businesses. In 2022, he was appointed CEO of Chaarat Gold, an AIM-listed junior gold miner based in London, a position he held until his appointment to Gold Fields.

Laurens W. Lor (47)
Managing Director

Mr. Lor is a Managing Director of the Netherlands Group of Companies.

Mr. Lor was appointed as director in 2010 and within the Gold Fields Netherlands Group is responsible for governance and compliance rules and contracting with third parties. Mr. Lor has more than 17 years experience in this field of work and also worked in the international tax advisory departments of KPMG Meijburg & Co and Arthur Andersen.

Timon Reijn (62)
Managing Director

Mr. Reijn is a Managing Director of the Netherlands Group of Companies.

Mr. Reijn was appointed Managing Director in late 2014 and is responsible for handling local affairs and respresenting the Netherlands Group of companies in dealings with third parties. Mr Reijn has more than 29 years of experience in international taxation matters and corporate structuring.

Johan H Pauley (59)
Managing Director

Mr. Pauley is a Managing Director of the Netherlands Group of Companies.

Mr. Pauley is Vice President and Group Head of Taxation for the Gold Fields Group. Mr. Pauley was appointed on 1 April 2000 and has more than 34 years’ experience in taxation and financial management. Prior to joining Gold Fields he was employed at Sasol Limited a major listed multinational Petrochemical and Mining company for 10 years where he was the Principal Tax Advisor and Head of the Tax Division.

Steven P. Reid (67)
Non-executive Director

Mr. Reid is a non-executive Director of the Netherlands Group of Companies.

Mr. Reid was appointed as a director of Gold Fields on February 1, 2016. He has over 40 years’ international mining experience and has held senior leadership roles in numerous countries. He has served as a director of Silver Standard Resources since January 2013 and a director of Eldorado Gold since May 2013. He served as chief operating officer of Goldcorp from January 2007 until his retirement in September 2012, and was Goldcorp’s executive vice president in Canada and the USA. Before joining Goldcorp, Steven spent 13 years at Placer Dome in numerous corporate, mine-management and operating roles. He also held leadership positions at Kingsgate Consolidated and Newcrest Mining, where he was responsible for the Asian and Australian operations.

Non-executive Director

Mr. Visser is a non-executive Director of the Netherlands Group of Companies.

He was appointed late 2016. Mr. Visser has over 45  years’ experience in the mining and energy sector, in the field as well as on management level. Technology, safety and the care for the environment have ever since been key elements in his day to day business.
