To enhance economic activities and improve the living standards in Prestea Huni Valley Municipality, the Minerals Development Fund (MDF) has provided the municipality with a new market.
The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of Prestea Huni-Valley, Isaac Dasmani, who commissioned the market made up of 24 retail shops and 60 stalls, indicated that it would be a hub for economic empowerment and community transformation.
He disclosed that plans were afoot for the commencement of the second phase of the project, assuring the people that it would be executed with speed to ensure its timely completion.
He was grateful to Gold Fields Ghana Ltd for grading the construction site at no cost.
He urged the shop owners to own the market and entreated them to cultivate a proper maintenance culture.
The Chief of Bosomtwi Division, Odefuo Kwabena Amponsah IV, said “This facility is a symbol of progress and unity. I encourage market women to maximise its use, uphold cleanliness and contribute to the community’s prosperity.”
Chairperson of the Minerals Commission, Barbara Oteng Gyasi, assured the market women that she would do her best to ensure the second phase of the project comes off.
