Gold Fields assures TNA Stadium completion in 2024 - GhanaSoccernet

Wednesday, 25 October 2023

The Tarkwa and Aboso (TNA) Stadium, an ambitious project funded by the Gold Fields Ghana Foundation, is on course to be ready for use by March 2024.

The confirmation of this timeline came during a media engagement organised by the foundation at the TNA Stadium on Wednesday.

Project Manager Roger Adama shared insights into the progress of the stadium, explaining that certain essential works remain outstanding.

He noted, “There are several things to be done before the facility can be handed over to the Municipal Assembly and the National Sports Authority. The works outstanding are; Playing pitch, External works i.e. car parks, walkways, connection to public utility services, horticultural landscaping, Removal/refixing of clear sheets, Installation of floodlights and other key things.”

This undertaking began three years ago and is now in its final stages of development. The Gold Fields Ghana Foundation has invested over $13 million in the project, bringing it closer to its budgeted total of $16 million.

The impending completion of the TNA Stadium is an exciting prospect for the region, promising enhanced sports infrastructure and community engagement opportunities. Project Manager Adama emphasized the comprehensive approach to finalizing the stadium's readiness.

However, it also signifies a shift for Ghanaian champions Medeama, who had initially hoped to utilise the stadium for their CAF Champions League group games starting in November 2023.

Despite this change, the stadium's positive impact on the community and local sports is eagerly anticipated.
