Gold Fields improves water and sanitation infrastructure in Hualgayoc - Trend Detail

126 Basic Sanitation Units were manufactured that will benefit more than 300 residents of the La Cuadratura farmhouse, through the Works for Taxes (OxI) modality.

Access to basic sanitation services, such as clean water and proper waste disposal systems, is essential to maintaining the health and well-being of communities. For this reason, Gold Fields, in alliance with the Ministry of Housing, Construction and Sanitation, through the National Rural Sanitation Program, delivered the project called "Creation of Basic Sanitation Units (UBS) in the La Cuadratura hamlet", located in the district of Hualgayoc, in Cajamarca.

This work was executed through the Works for Taxes (OxI) mechanism, through which 126 UBS were implemented to improve the quality of life of 300 residents of the area, as well as contribute to the reduction of parasitic diseases linked to deficient health services. sanitation. The project also included the development of training for the communities on adequate hygiene habits and hand washing to prevent possible diseases.

Gold Fields financed this initiative with an investment of more than S/. 3 millions. Likewise, the work articulated with the National Rural Sanitation Program of the Ministry of Housing, Construction and Sanitation, a public entity that promotes this work that has improved the infrastructure in the hydraulic system and cleaning for the inhabitants of the area’s hamlet, was highlighted.

Flor Padilla, Recording Secretary of the Cuadratura farmhouse, thanked the Ministry of Housing and Gold Fields for this work.

"Previously, we lacked the sanitary conditions necessary to meet our basic needs, since we only had access to latrines in poor condition. However, thanks to the implementation of these new basic units, families will be able to considerably improve their living conditions", he said.

"This work represents a great advance for our community, since we now have adequate facilities that allow us to carry out our daily activities in a safe and healthy manner"he highlighted.

For his part, Eng. Elías Cano, Gold Fields Community Relations Superintendent, expressed his joy at the completion of this important work.

"As a company, we are extremely happy and satisfied to have contributed to the materialization of this work, which allows us to significantly improve the quality of life of our neighbors in Cuadratura. We are proud to generate value beyond mining."
