A devastating incident occurred at the T&A Stadium in Tarkwa as an employee of a firm engaged by Gold Fields Ghana Foundation tragically fell to his death.
The contractor, whose identity has not been disclosed, was involved in the renovation and upgrade project of the T&A Stadium in Tarkwa. The project is funded by Gold Fields Ghana Foundation and aims to benefit the local communities.
In a statement issued by Martin Preece, the CEO of Gold Fields, the company expressed deep regret over the fatal incident. The statement read, "We regret to report a fatal incident after an employee of a Gold Fields Ghana Foundation succumbed to his injuries following a fall from heights incident. The contractor was working on the renovation and upgrade of the T&A Stadium in Tarkwa, a project funded by the Gold Fields Ghana Foundation for the benefit of our Tarkwa host communities."
The company extended heartfelt sympathies and condolences to the family, loved ones, and colleagues of the deceased. Gold Fields has deployed a team to provide support and assistance to those affected by the incident. All work at the T&A Stadium has been suspended until investigations are completed.
Counselling services are being offered to the family and colleagues of the deceased during this difficult time. The statement concluded by requesting thoughts and prayers for the family and friends of the colleague who tragically lost his life.
