Education is everyone's commitment. The mining sector contributes to the development of regions and especially of people through the education, since it encourages young people to be participating actors in society. Since 2010 the "Scholarship Program gold fields" finances university studies for 97 outstanding students from 13 communities in the Hualgayoc district, in the region Cajamarca.
Until the year 2021 they are 52 young people who have successfully completed their university studies and today they are professionals who work in the specialties of industrial engineering, psychology, computer science, dentistry, law, among others.
In addition, the Gold Fields mining company, in alliance with the Mining Technological Center (CETEMIN), has invested more than S/554 thousand soles in the technical training of 12 young people of their communities, who successfully completed the most advanced courses in Exploitation of Mines, acquiring the knowledge and technical skills to function optimally in daily activities and tasks in the mine.
On the other hand, it promotes Know to Win program a radio contest space that strengthens the knowledge of third, fourth and fifth year high school students, who face each other in a healthy competition demonstrating their skills in mathematics, science, communication, history, traditions and Hualgayoquina culture.
The project is in its seventh season and has promoted the participation of more than 1,000 students, teachers and parents in all project activities. In addition, schoolchildren, teachers and the educational institutions themselves have received awards such as computers, laptops, tablets, projectors, backpacks, among other equipment necessary for their continuous learning.
