St Ives Beyond 2018, Australia

Gold Fields St Ives Gold Mine is proposing to undertake additional developments beyond the current approved Beyond 2010 PER boundary in order to extend the life of the St Ives operations. It is intended that the proposed Beyond 2018 Project will facilitate the continuation of mining operations associated with Lake Lefroy and the wider St Ives site. The project boundary encompasses approximately 45,000 hectares (ha) and it is expected to have a disturbance footprint of approximately 5,000ha. This development is expected to occur over a 10-year operational period (approximately 2,000ha of lake-based disturbance and 3,000ha of terrestrial disturbance). To facilitate this additional disturbance, a new project boundary is proposed.

An Environmental Review Document (ERD) has been prepared by the Gold Fields St Ives Gold Mine in accordance with Environmental Protection Authority procedures and is released for public review. The ERD describes the proposal, examines the likely environmental effects and the proposed environmental management procedures associated with the proposed development.
